Here is a look at the top 10 poker players based on results from the Hendon Mob:
No 1 - Bryn Kenney
The NY poker pro burst onto the scene not too long ago and quickly skyrocketed to the top. He has over $56 million in career prize money and his highest cash till date is $20.5 million when he finished in second place at the Triton For Million Charity event on 01 August 2019 that enabled him to knock Justin Bonomo from the top spot.
No 2 - Justin Bonomo
Topped long time number one Daniel Negreanu but could not hold on to the number one spot for a long time. The Virginia poker pro has just over $49 million in career prize money. His best live cash was for $10 million when he won the Big For One Drop event in July 2018. His last impressive win was in August 2019 when he won the Triton Poker Super High Roller Series – Short Deck Main event for $3.2 million.
No 3 - Daniel Negreanu
Dominated the number 1 spot for a very long time and is considered by many to be one of the best poker players of recent times. This Poker Hall of Fame title holder has over $42 million in career prize money and his best live cash is just over $8 million. He is also the number one ranked Canadian poker pro. His most impressive win was when he finished in second place at the WSOP High Roller Event in 2019 and took home $1.7 million in prize money.
No 4 – Erik Seidel
Has been in the top 5 list of poker players for a long time. He has over $37.7 million in career prize money, but is still a long way behind Negreanu. The NY poker pro has made it a habit to consistently stay in the cashflow which enables him to accumulate his overall prize winnings on a regular basis. His most impressive win in recent times was when he won $1.2 million at the Partypoker Super High Roller Bowl in November 2019.
No 5 – Dan Smith
Has over $36 million in career prize money. He made his way into the top 5 when he finished in 3rd place at the Triton For Million Charity event in August 2019, where he won $8.7 million in prize money. If he manages to have another impressive win this year, he could very well surpass Seidel.
No 7 – David Peters
Has accumulated over $33.7 million in career prize money and he has done it rather quietly when compared to some of the other players featured on this list. This is one of the reasons why a lot of poker pros may not know his name. One of his most recent wins was at the 2019 Triton Poker Series in Jeju, when he took home over $1 million for his 5th place finish.
No 8 – Fedor Holz
The German whiz kid has been in the top 10 rankings for a few years now, even though he spends a limited amount of time on the poker circuit. He has $32.5 million in prize money and is ranked as the number 1 German poker pro on the Hendon Mob.
No 9 – Jason Koon
Has over $31 million in career prize money and his most impressive win in recent times was at the Triton Poker Series in London in 2019, when he won over $1 million for his second place finish at the £ 50,000 No Limit Hold’em – 8 Handed event. Koon needs to start winning some more or he could soon drop out of the top 10 ranking.
No 10 – Steve O’Dwyer
The Colorado poker pro has a little over $30 million in career prize money and his most impressive live cashout was for $1.8 million. He participates in many tournaments each year and if he continues to win, he should be able to make inroads in to the top 10 list.
You might be surprised to see the likes of Phil Ivey, Cary Katz, Phil Hellmuth and Antonio Esfandiari not featuring on this list. It just goes to show you how new players have come from nowhere and changed things by winning high stakes event. Expect this list to change as we get more live poker action and high stakes events in the coming months (Covid19-depending).
